Your Story

Stairway to freedomOnly you know what you are going through as a result of what happened to you. The following is perhaps what you are feeling on a daily basis.

Restrictions on your emotions seem to confine you in isolation. You move around encased in powerful elastic fibres around your body and mind whose sole function seems to be to pull you back, so movement requires a lot of effort and thinking and planning require even more.

In your mind, the room that you constantly return to if you reduce your effort is one with a single bed, or a mattress on the floor or perhaps an empty room.

The curtains and door are partly open, the opening depends on how well you are coping. You have tried over time to open the door and curtains to let more light and life in but unless you can keep the effort going, they will return to being partly open.

In any case, you have learnt to adjust to the semi-light and squeeze through the opening because it requires less effort.

You have to go through the door because you have duties, commitments, responsibilities to yourself and others. Of course, if it was left to you, you woudn't move too far from your room, but you have to be with people at some point. This means conversation, listening, and the effort of talking requires concentration - which makes you tired.

Suddenly, you become aware that the powerful elastic fibres sense you weakening and start to pull you back into the room and you don't want that to happen whilst still in company so you make excuses and leave.

You continue to make excuses over time until you don't get invites any more and your circle of people start to reduce.

You cannot think into the future as you are struggling with today and any day in the future will feel the same as today as it was yesterday and the day before and the day before that.

I WILL BE USING TOUCH TO ATTEMPT TO REDUCE THESE SYMPTOMS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE OBSTACLES THAT ARE PREVENTING YOU RECOVERING.
